Imperial War Museum North presents the largest ever UK exhibition about the life and work of Don McCullin, one of the world's most acclaimed photographers, to mark his 75th year. Many items are on public display for the very first time.
For more than 50 years, McCullin's images have shaped our awareness of modern conflict and its consequences. His courage and integrity, as well as the exceptional quality of his work, are a continuing inspiration and influence worldwide.
A unique collaboration between McCullin and the Imperial War Museum, this major new exhibition contains over 200 photographs, contact sheets, objects, magazines and personal memorabilia, and shows how war has shaped the life of this exceptional British photographer and those across the globe over the last half-century.
'In the Spotlight' illuminates unique objects from the Museum Collections for a limited period of time and explores the fascinating stories behind them.
Explore the intriguing life of Special Operations Executive agent Odette Hallowes, who was arrested in May 1944 and was imprisoned in Ravensbrück concentration camp. On display is the pistol she seized from Fritz Suhren, the camp commandant, when he handed her over to Allied forces in April 1945.
We are closed Mondays except Bank Holidays, and also closed 1 January, Good Friday, 24-26 and 31 December.

See the Chapman Brothers' gruesome sculpture Disasters of War alongside the Goya etchings that inspired it.
We're currently showing 30 rarely-displayed Goya prints from our collections in an exhibition called Fantasies, Follies and Disasters.
And now, the rarely-displayed etchings by Francisco de Goya have caught the imagination of a dynamic group of young people called the Creative Consultants. These young people regularly attend sessions at the gallery to explore their interest in art and are currently working with us on our annual Visual Dialogues partnership with Tate.
